CRM = Customer Relationship Management

In conversations I talk about CRM and the next question is often “and what is that?!”

Customer Relationship Management is just that – managing customers effectively and efficiently.  Ensuring leads are followed up and none are slipping away…   CRM allows tracking of leads, opportunities and customers from the start of the sales cycle to the end and continuing to the customer relationship in life.

CRM helps the whole organisation, but in particular:

  • Sales teams
  • Marketing teams
  • Customer Service
  • Management Information

The customers of any organisation are the most important asset… enhances your base with CRM from Caltech!

Marketing and Event Management Return on Investment

posted on 27th August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

Marketing budgets cut, marketing on a shoe string, return on investment…

Have you tracked your marketing campaign or event?    These are the questions that marketers are being asked more and more frequently by our senior managers…

Using CRM (Customer Relationship Management), I have been able to track the activities that are working best for us.

Attending events is about much more than generating leads, it is also about networking, brand presence and the opportunity to launch new products or give thought provoking messages.

By entering all information of costs, planning activities, and having target marketing lists in CRM, it can really help to show your marketing return on investment.

Top Tips:

  • You will be able to see where your marketing efforts have been really working and pass these effectively to the sales teams as hot leads or opportunities
  • Tell your customer base what you are doing!
  • Ensure visibility of Direct Marketing
  • Keep close to sales and product development and have campaigns ready to hit the market with
  • Maintain all information in CRM
  • Use CRM to generate reports and never miss an opportunity again
  • Finally make sure you are highlighting to your management team the return on investment on your marketing activities!…

GoldMine Hints and Tips : Plus View to Find Customer Address

posted on 26th August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

Hints and Tips for GoldMine

Frequently asked question!  For any more let us know and we can address on this blog!

The GM+View Tab, introduced in GoldMine 6.0, can display relevant information about the contact you are on from just about any web site out there, including the contact’s own web site!

Great for finding out more about a prospect or current customer before you call!

To set this up go to File | Configure | GM+View or Web | Setup GM+View in GoldMine Premium Edition.

Note: You do need Master Rights to do this.

Then click the New button.

Type in the Template name, e.g. Web Site, then click down into the white space below, then click on the <H> button in the upper right.  This allows us to tell the view what we want to display.

Note: If your <H> button is greyed out it indicates you’re using a version of GoldMine below 6.70.70226 with Internet Explorer 7.0 installed.  Uninstall Internet Explorer 7.0 or, better yet, it’s time for a GoldMine update.

After clicking <H> you’ll see some HTML code…  Highlight all of it and delete it.

In its place copy and paste this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN”>

<HTML><HEAD>

<SCRIPT>

<!–

function redirect()

{

window.location = “&lt;&lt;&amp;website&gt;&gt;”

}

setTimeout (“redirect();”, 0000)

// –>

</SCRIPT><META content=”MSHTML 6.00.6001.18203″></HEAD>

<BODY leftMargin=1 topMargin=1 rightMargin=1></BODY></HTML>

Then choose Save & Exit.
Click OK from the GM+View Tab Settings screen.

Now, the GM+View tab you can select your contact’s web site!

Software for Marketing

Targeting the right information to the right people.

This is the real benefit of CRM to the marketing teams.  CRM has such a wealth of information in it, names, contact details, buying preferences, solutions they have and solutions they don’t have, yet!

Many CRM systems also have other marketing solutions that can enhance CRM further such as Event Manager Accelerator and GoldReach a solution that Caltech have developed for GoldMine and Direct Marketing.

All campaign activity can be tracked in CRM from budgets, to collateral, leads and where they were generated.  Sales made and what marketing material they received, or events the prospect attended, that may have altered their opinion.

CRM can really reduce the amount of time marketers spend generating information and stripping out data to speak to the right people.  More importantly CRM can highlight in Pounds and Pence what is working and return on investment is always being talked about in businesses at the moment.

So use the CRM facility to the maximum and drive your sales team!

Use CRM to its fullest to reap the best rewards

posted on 25th August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

CRM really has worked for so many organisations and it manages their data, relationships and has a wealth of information so it is really important that you are using your CRM system to ensure that you are getting the most out of it.

Selecting the right CRM software for your organisation is tricky, and that’s why we spend time with prospects talking to them about what they want to get out of a system and understanding their needs.

Many CRM software suppliers claim to be experts in CRM but often this isn’t their core business.

CRM must be driven from the top – everyone in the business must use the system to make it work.  It’s really important when choosing a supplier to implement CRM to choose one that really understands CRM.  They must be able to provide adequate training and project management.

The customisation that can be done with CRM is a real benefit and that is another reason why the supplier must really concentrate on CRM.

Contact Catherine@caltech.co.uk if you want to understand the pitfalls and the items to consider when you install and choose a CRM system.

GoldMine Standard Edition 6.5 Q&A

posted on 24th August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

We have GoldMine Standard Edition V6.5 and we are having the following problems:

It doesn’t work with IE 7 or 8  – It  doesn’t work with Office 2007 which we now all have and we are having trouble with the mailbox.. What do you suggest?

We would suggest an upgrade to the latest version of Premium Edition. This resolves the problem of Office and IE7 it also gives you the more secure SQL back end database. The main benefit of upgrading to GMPE is that the data is carried into the new version without any corruption.

What are Microsoft Dynamics Accelerators?

posted on 23rd August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

We have Microsoft Dynamics CRM and have heard that the “accelerators” are add ons to the product – how do we get these?

The accelerators are a free add on to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM software. They give extra functionality for various areas of the system, and have solved many problems.  Specifically these are

  •  Analytics that supplies Sales, Operations and Service reporting
  • Event Management  which plans, creates, allows delegates to book themselves and reviews the outcome of events
  • E-Service Portal is a configurable self-service portal
  • Enterprise Search Rapidly configures portal views of CRM data within SharePoint and MOSS
  • Extended Sales Forecasting
  • CRM Notifications allows RSS newsfeeds to join CRM events
  • Business Productivity
  • Sales Methodologies provides guidance of third party benchmarking and best practise; SPI Solution Selling, Miller Heiman and Target Account Selling.
  • Social Media Networking

We can supply and reconfigure all of these should you need help.

Not for Profit Software / CRM

posted on 22nd August, 2009 by Catherine No Comments »

Caltech have been working with NFP organisations for many years and our NFP customers are using either GoldMine or Microsoft CRM.

Customers range from education and training, health care, NHS, regeneration organisations and charitable organisations.

CRM is a very versatile system that can help to provide fundraising and membership information as a one stop shop.  CRM in a commercial environment is used to track leads and for direct marketing, and these fundamental advantages can be used in not for profit organisations, for many tasks such as donor management and engagement.

Caltech can help to secure Microsoft CRM for not for profit organisations significant cost savings for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.  Discounts on license costs can be up to 75%.
